Months ago while sitting in a restaurant next to two gentleman having a conversation about Al Gore and how great he was this and that I asked a very simple question that led to rage. The first step in creating a genuinely useful intranet is to ban the intranet team from using the word “information”. “‘Distribute information’ is by far the primary perceived role of the intranet, increasing by 7 points from 2006 up to nearly 60 percent saying “absolutely” in 2007. However, “facilitate collaboration” stagnated at 20 percent and “facilitate productivity” only increased 3 points to 22 percent in 2007.” The above is a quote from the second annual Global Intranet & Portal Strate

Of late, there have been too many news about hackers exploiting the vulnerabilities of Oracle and MS SQL Server - a majority of these issues have been because of the SQL injection attacks i.e. bad application and DB programming issues and some of the issues have been because of poor configuration or poor password choices which have been hacked.

Just stumbled accross this very lengthy article on NYTimes.com about girls in comepetitive sports getting injured. Due to the anecdotal evidence of the author, that girls sustain more severe injuries while whining less than boys, he raises the question whether “we” can live with that. This week, a right-wing front group spliced and doctored an NPR interview of Al Gore in order to allege that Gore said something which he did not. The organization published a false headline which blared that Gore called the Myanmar cyclone a “consequence” of global warming. Drudge, CNN, and Fox News have repeated and promoted the lie.
